Is it worth it?
I was just wondering if its even worth it to pump money into my '85 IROC-Z. I bought it off a friend to fix up, have some fun and then get rid of it by end of summer.
I've re-considered somewhat and decided i may keep it if you guys think it is. It is an '85 IROC-Z that has a 350 5.7L V8 Carb and 5 Speed. The engine was swapped out from a 305 HO Carb. The engine itself has under 10,000 miles, but the body is pretty high mileage.
The body has 150,000 miles on it right now, its pretty decent car, original paint, and interior is excellent. Is it worth it to put money into this car with that old of a chassis? I'm not worried about the engine/tran as i'm going to replace them.. just curious if this body is worth keeping since is got 150k miles on it.
Or should I just find another Camaro with lower mileage? I do'nt mind replacing the suspension if thats the only it takes to bring this beast back to life.
Heres a pic.

Its all up to you, its your money and you can do what ya want with it!
Of course dont expect anyone to tell ya to junk it, this is a website soley based on the 3rd gen fbody cars!
If the body and interior is in decent shape why not fix it up a bit. These cars can pull in some big cash if done up right

the newest year on 3rd gen is a 1992..
u got an IROC, and looking at the pic
at least the interior and engine looks pretty mint.
only thing u'd have to wrry about is now suspension and bit of paint,
thats not bad comparing to some people who has to deal with restoration of everything, including engine and interior.
looks good IMO

About the only thing that "ages" on the chassis are suspension bushings and bearings. The bushings should be replaced with poly anyway, and bearings are a PM item.
Keep the rust in check, you don't have anything to worry about.
(You do have subframe connectors, right?)

Ya that car looks sweet! Looks like its an l69 car.... the tach has the higher redline, its got a carb, and a 5 speed. I thought there were only a 100 or so of those cars made in 85. But it might be a converted TPI car. Get some subframe connectors and Your chassis should be nice and tight.
