91 Camaro V8 won't start
Need some ideas here... a few days ago i took CAT off and put in a piece of straight pipe, car ran great for 3 or 4 days... then started running like crap, idling rough, missing and trying to die and running really rich and flooding, let set over night and next morning it started ok but still has miss and running rich and flooding....changed the O2 sensor..no change..running worst by the day...changed the collent temp sensor, IAC sensor...no change...getting good spark to the plugs, good fuel to the carb...now car turns over good and tries to start but won't...fuel pump works great, all electrical seems ok, no fuses blown...can't use timing light and hate to pull timing cover untill last resort.. Any ideas? also getting no trouble codes...motor is stock 305 5.0 TBI vin E..

Car: 90 RS/90 Z-71/73 Vega
Engine: 3.1/5.7 TBI/5.7
Transmission: 700R4/700R4/350turbo
Axle/Gears: 3.23/3.42/3.42
Well you said ,"good fuel to carb" and then said," its a 305 TBI"??.either way if you know its flooding ..I bet you removed your cat cause it was plugged??.
try the injectors themselves or the carb itself. You need to ohm the injectors or try a set of good ones and compare to specs ,they are real easy to replace. Not like the Mult-port ones..

I took the cat off cause it was blown out and sounded like crap and is basicly worthless..the flooding is because of continuous cranking and no start.. injectors are ok..

You got a problem child dont you???..If all is okay..fuel/spark how about a vacuum leak or an internal engine problem...compression check? If you remove a plug is it wet from fuel?..pull each plug and see what the center electrode color is?...I want to say ignition (miss..flooding) but you said it was okay.Maybe a weak coil?..

Yea, this one is a real stumper...I checked all vacuum lines one at a time and all seem ok...checked compression all good there... took each plug out cleaned the carbon and gas off, put them back in, checked dist cap, rotor and pick up coil, all are good...checked pressure to regulator, no problem there. can't find any problems with ignition...i'm leaning towards it being a timing chain, and hoping its not a deeper problem than that...I shot starting fluid straight down the throat of the throttle body and didn't make a difference..I've ran outta things to check on the top end.

Car: 1989 Camaro
Engine: 350 but it's torn down right now.
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: I'm working on it,lol.
If the plugs are soaked with fuel, you're definately running rich. Try advancing the timing a bit and see if it runs better.

Did you try a different ignition coil?Sometimes you can still have spark but weak and its kinda hard to tell unless you have some equipment to test it?.
