just wondered about oil
what kind of oil do you guys use. i changed my oil in my 89 RS 305 today and i used pennziol high millage 10w40 with a bosch premium oil filter. i always use the best conventional oil in my car and a good oil filter. i change it as soon as it shows signs of getting dirty. it gets dark, i change it. you change your oil regularally that 305 will run forever. i can even hear the car thanking me(gulg, gulg) , lol. the oil pressure thanks me too. i always see the best oil pressure with fresh oil. i also cant stand people that dont change their oil like they are supposed to. its the only way you engine really has to remove the dirt and crap from combustion, your engine depends on you to take car of it. i did have one question about motor oil. is it safe to switch to synthetics after an engine has been used to conventional its whole life? i was on the pennziol website and they say that its ok. should i just stay with what i have been using or is synthetics a better choice?

Im waiting till around 2000 miles on my fresh engine before I switch to synthetic. I dont know what kind im going to get but I do plan on it.
Right now im using 20w50 because of the new cam. Ill change that out with 10w30 maybe around 1000 miles.
I just buy the "premium" oil filters offered at autozone.
I have a totally different outlook on oil now though. The last engine that was in my car got destroyed because of no oil *short story, im an idiot* so lets just say that ill be checking my oil 2 times a week.

Billions of opinions on this topic. Bottom line is that true synthetic is better than conventional oil, if you want to spend the extra money. But, if you change your oil routinely your engine will last a long long time on conventional oil. Some true synthetics would be:
Mobil
Amsoil
Royal Purple

I use mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 with Acdelco filter.Good stuff, but don't think that you need synthetic.A good non-synthetic oil does just fine.
