it's next to if not impossible to vapor lock an electric fuel pump equiped fuel system. is your exhaust routed aginst a fuel line or the tank?

I Have the same problem!! When the car was hot fuel pump would whine...than car would die. You take the gas cap off and got fuel vapors come out. Well.. i ended up burning up the fuel pump.. put an ac delco one in. Still gets hot and whines but does not die..?? I'm thinkin it cause the exaust is right under the tank. Or maybe even the purge valve is inop. Let me know. I'm stumpt too

I bought a new sending unit and pump this I week from the General I will remove rear axle and exhaust to get to the tank but i wish I could be more sure about the cause. The headers are ceramic coated and i have heat wrap around the gas lines. I am stumped. I think it is vapor locking because I did an injector drop test cold and hot the injctors are great and a node test no problem there either. When I put the pressure gauge on and take a sample of gas from the gauge the car does not have enough volume to keep the car running but it retains pressure. The gas that is coming out is so hot it burns. That is why I think it is a vapor lock. Grasping a straws.

why don't you test fuel pressure and volumn, that ought to make you a little more sure of what you need to do.
