400 crankshaft storage

whats the best way to store a crank, i dont really have a use for it now so i wanna put it in my garage

im gonna clean it up and then oil it and cover it with plastic
but whats the correct way to store it, standing up, laying down, supported by the main journels?

im confused

i just got a virgin 400 crank for dirt cheap

so if anyone wants it let me know

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Standing up, piece of wire or rope or something holding it to the wall so it doesn't fall over and break

It's astonishing how cleanly a counterweight will slice through a toe that happens to be in the way when a crank falls over.

Standing in the corner, slathered with Vaseline, in a plastic trash bag, with a bunch of transmissions, bellhousings, odd lengths of scrap metal, some old jack stands, and a transmission jack wedged against it. That must be the way to do it, since that's how my spare that isn't in the spare block is sitting...

That sounds like my garage. 3 BBC blocks, a 400 block, 2 TH400's and a spare PG. Numerous other engine parts, 3 crankshafts in bags standing up in a corner. I've also got a bunch of SBC parts stuffed away in cupboards.

All projects that I'll never have time to finish.
