Got a new oil pan...got some ?s
Okay here is the deal, i bought a new oil pan for my 355 and it came with a new pick up. So i put the new pick up tube on the new oil pump, and the oil pan WILL NOT clear, i mean there is no possible way, because it hits the baffles inside the oil pan. so i put my other oil pump in with my stock pickup tube and it will not even clear the windage tray. so here is the question, can i cut the baffles out of the oil pan, and if i do so i will also no longer have a windage tray, will this be fine or will i need a windage tray? thanks
If you were a little old lady driving a caddy I would say you could do without a windage tray but in your case I would do whatever it takes to keep the windage tray, It's there to keep the oil pump fed with oil under high G- loads..Braking, turning ect.
It also keeps the oil down low in the pan and not up where it can get whipped to death by the crankshaft.
I would either contact the manufacturer or replace or reuse the old one.
