Small block casting numbers chart
Small block casting numbers chart
I've seen a few posts of people wondering what engine they have. Here are some charts that I found on a website a while back. I'm not sure of their accuracy. Hope this helps.

mortec.com and nastyz28.com have all the casting numbers for blocks and heads and intakes and manifolds and so forth, and stamping codes too
making a thread like this isnt going to prevent ppl from posting and asking about their engine numbers, ppl are going to regardless
especially when they mis-read the numbers and cant find a match online
happens all the time and always will

Espescially when you look at the 3970010 block. Lists it as 302 Z28, 327 trucks, and 350 2 and 4 bolt main 69 to 80. That covers just about every 350 built between 69 to 80. The engine stamp code at the right front of the block would be the better more acurate way of decifering final assembly installation.
