gas gauge and temp gauge not working

Car: 1988 Camaro (Z28 Clone)
Engine: 305 4bbl roch
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.42
gas gauge and temp gauge not working

as the title explains, the gas gauge and temp gauge arent working, i ran out of gas the other day and it took me a while to figure it out lol, and my car rwally overheated and something broke

any ideas?

Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
For the temp gage, take the wire off of the sending unit and ground the wire. With the key on, it should go to max. Leave the key on, unground it, and it should go to min. If it does those things, it's the sending unit. If it doesn't, it's something in the circuit.

If neither gage does anything, and they both started acting up at the same time, it's probably an instrument panel power or ground problem.
