guide to retainer clearance.

I'm buying a lunati voodoo cam and I need to know how much lift, before retainer and valve guide contact. My heads are HO 305 heads with 2187 casting number.

The vast majority of factory/stock SBC heads start to get dicey over about .470 lift and retainer to guide (seal) clearance is the reason.

187 casting heads? hmm...

You can measure it. I might suggest using .050" offset locks, it's cheaper than machining, and gives you a bit more safety margin. I think that's what i've got on my 305 heads, when I had my lunati voodoo 60103.
