damper differences

damper differences

besides diameter, how different are vib dampers between a 350 s 305 sbc? are they interchangeable???

they're all internal balanced motors so they will interchange, although they're around $40-65 from summit for new non-SFI approved ones.

An SFI aprroval means that particular component is built to spec's required for a particular racing sanction.

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
The 350 one is 8", and heavier, meant to balance the harmonics of a heavier rotating mass. The 305 one is 6 3/4", meant to... well do the opposite.
You can use either one, the lighter one tends to make the motor rev easier (apparently), but the 8" one... Makes it more smooth? I forget offhand...
If you're not bracket racing, or constantly above 6000RPM, you don't need the $250 SFI approved one, you can use the basic $60 summit (or local) style one.
