I have a 305 L03 motor out of an 89 RS. I replaced it with a 350 and kept the TBI. And with 3.73's, and a custom built transmission and the motor built to the hill, it is monster. My question is now that i put the car away for the winter and i have money to play with and the 305 on a stand, do u think it is worth it to build the hell out of the 305 engine, i am talking decent cam, vortec heads, edelbrock intake and carb, rods, high compression, hi lift, the whole nine yards. Basically replacing everything but the block itself and the cranksfhat. Is is worth it to do that to a 305 or just forget about it??? I know it is a 2 bolt main but i ait gonna supercharge it so i shouldnt worry that much. what do you guys think?

 

I'd save my money and start on the exterior or interior. Why build another smaller motor?

 

For the price of a decent core (350) I wouldn't waste my time on the 305.
