some one help me please before i put a rag in the tank and walk away from this car ok here is the problem i got tired of throwing parts at this 84 z28 with a 383 stroker it first started with the car shuting offf for no reason so i did basic mantinance on it new cap rotor plugs wires modual coil all filters . ok car starts runs for 2 hours in drive way then it quit agin so i said ok i am not going to go and redo all my work so i just pulled the whole distributor and replaced it with a brannew one ( hei top coil cap) put that in the beast did the tdc thing and everything car fired up took it for a ride good run came back ping so said ok timing is off set timeing let it run in yard 45 minuts it shut off no warning or anything just stopped went out restarted ok fine so now i am going to take it out this morning crank and crank no start like no spark so be for i left in my wifes jetta i looked at the feed wire for distributor nice thick pink wire under cap on alt very thin could this be my problem or what

 

you let your car just idle for 2 hours straight?

what does it do before it shuts off.. how does it sound? what are the rpms doing

 

it just runs no sputering or anything

 

well have you actually been there when the car just shuts off?...sure its not the wife doing it? cause that wire probably isnt whats doing it but check it for continuity... but it is definitly electrical and its gonna be a pain to find probably best time to find it is after the car has just shut off...

 

had anoter mechanic look at it and found the dumbest thing the CHRME hold down for the distributor was not grounding so after a while it would lose spark and shut off
