GTA running funny totally annoyed!

every once in a while you run into a problem to were you just get annoyed and walk away from the car .. well heres mine....

car ran great for a while it has a newer ICM installed, recent wires and plug, new O2 sensor. the maf sensor is original but seems to be working ok i have no trouble codes...

but the car seems to be almost " skipping" if you will, at idle im figuring a vacum leak.

the car has 67,000 miles but was a driver its a 1987 gta 350 tpi
any one have any suggestions im very annoyed i havent tons of time to spend on the car ( i hate to say that but its true cause i love it )

thanks everyone, chris

"Skipping?" As in misfire?

Does this occur at all engine speeds? At all temperatures? Closed loop and open loop?

yea it seems like a misfire( i checked the firing order but itlooks to be fine ... ) .. its kinda rough idle its only when the car is idling or at 1-20mph .. at highway speed the car seems to be ok the car has a total loss of power on the low side once i get to60 plus i can gun it i got ***** for ever ...

i also smell a slight odor ( like the car is running rich )

the temperature dosnt seem to matter can be running cold or hot it makes no difference the car still has this wierd rough idle which is why im thinking vacum leak
i guess it could be mass air flow sensor going bad maybe???

thanks vader any help u or any one else can give is greatly
appreciated...

chris

If the MAF is not setting an error code, I wouldn't think a second thought about it - The ECM monitors the MAF output very closely, and doesn't let it get out of an allowable range determined by the programmed tables for more than 600 mS before setting an error code.

If it is truly rich, there are several possibilities. Test running and standing fuel pressure, and inspect the pilot vacuum line for the FPR. If the standing fuel pressure falls off quickly, there may be injector or FPR leakage.

If all that checks out, a power balance test might help identy the offending (s).
