hey guys im currently rebuilding my 350 in the ol` ROC, i have a few pics for ya, im rebuilding it cause its been spitting coolant out the pipes, so i might as well rebuild it so it doesnt happen again for a long time. tell me what you guys think

oh.. does # 5 cylinder look a little weird to you guys? or is it just me

That head gasket is blown at every place between cylinders, and about halfway around #7.

I'm surprised you could keep water in it at all.

Nothing seems unusual about #5. It looks like it only had a small amount of coolant getting into it.

I'm not sure if you look weird or not.

If this is the motor that you thought had a cracked head, I'd hold off on that; there's plenty of evidence of how water was getting into a cylinder. There's likely nothing wrong with the head itself, except maybe needing re-surfaced (and of course the usual valve job).

Whatever you do, DO NOT let the parts store or machine shop guy talk you into swapping your old heads in as cores, and taking whatever castings they want to give you!!! You will lose your good 083s and probably come home with 882s, or worse. Maybe even 193 "swirl-port" garbage from a truck. There is no such thing as "just as good", almost as good", "all 350 heads are the same", etc. BE SURE you either get your own castings back, or at the very least, that you get another set of 083s. Don't let them tell you it will cost twice as much, or take 3 months, or otherwise put any of that type of pressure on you; if they pull that stunt, pick up your heads and walk out, and take them to SOMEBODY ELSE that WILL do the right thing.
