Help me get the right combo.

Ok i am building a 383 and dont know what i should run for cam/heads and carb. I have a RPM airgap intake i got for cheap form a freind but i am still wondering what to do. I am looking to make in the area of 400-500 Hp at the crank and still run pump gas. What set of heads would be the cheapest but still make the pwoer i am looking for and what cam might i look at using. would i be ok using a 750 carb or 800 or 850. the car will be a street strip car and gas is not the biggest issue for me. can anyone help me out?

thanks

Colt

Since you already have the intake, you've limited your head selection. You can either eBay the intake and use what works best, or build around the freebe choice. AFR 200 heads should work with that manifold.

Comp XE280-ish cam. Forged flat-top w/valve relief pistons. Good rods with good (ARP) bolts. Good headers like Hooker 2210HKR. 800 CFM double-pumper carb, since you've got a dual-plane intake.

well if i need to sell the intake i will, that is not a big deal and i am not going to base my set up around my intake, so what i am asking is what could do to make that power with out spending a fortune. like could i mkae that power from a set of ZZ4 heads or will i need something different.

There's a difference between 400 and 500HP. Which do you want? (Keep in mind the higher, the harder it is to drive, more gas guzzled, etc etc.)

400HP-425HP or so, that intake is pretty much the perfect choice.
425HP+ you may want a single plane like a victor junior. It'll hurt your bottom end a tad.

ZZ4 heads have been known to flow pretty poorly. Some members have done quite well with them, but flow results show them as being bad. Take that information with a grain of salt I guess.
I think over 400HP is really pushing it with those heads, i'd say more like Five7's suggestion, or Dart 200cc, brodix or Trickflow 200-210cc size.
