Long Term Spark Plug Wire Damage?

Alright, one of my spark plug wires have burned through from getting on top of one of the headers, it's the only one that doesnt have a 90" boot on it, so it got turned a little wierd.

Anyway, my question is what will can happen to the motor if a plug wire burns through and isnt fixed in a timely manner?

Will it cause a car to smoke up a little bit on startup?

My motor was rebuilt from the bottom up 1500 miles ago, so its not from worn out parts, this has only been happening recently, so I dont know what to think about it, except from the wires.

They are MSD 8.5 wires, but they have been on the car over a year, could this have anything to do with it?

If the cylinder isn't firing it will cause damage rather quickly. That cylinder will wash down with fuel and wear the walls and rings.
