Bent rod
Engine was a new 350 Caprice with 88 tpI , rpm heads and cam. Only 20 k on the engine.
Changed to a comp 256 cam and had oil leak on oil pan. Engine was not running badly.Remove pan to install new gasket.I found 2 chunks of a piston skirt, the size of a quarter.Closer look found 4 pistons with parts of skirt missing and # 6 rod bent. The bent rod has been there for sometime because a carbon ring was forming on the cylinder wall, lower than the rest of the cylinders. Never did find the rest of the broken piston skirt. Maybe the parts were chewed up and went out with an oil change. Loaned it to a friend onced for a car show. Could over reving, liquid lock fron bad injector cause this? Installed new TRW pistonsand scat rods and comp xe268 cam.Have 150 miles on engine now.Worried it may hapen again. Thanks for any help.

If you hydro-locked the engine it could definitely bend a rod. Not sure that would necessarily cause broken piston skirts, but I guess it could. For sure, somethign really bad happened to that motor. It's definitely gotta come out. If you're going to try to rebuild it have the crank checked to make sure it's still straight and crack-free, too. Ditto all 7 other rods.

Too Late. engine up and running with new Scat I beam rods and TRW pistons.GOOD oil pressur. My son said maybe pre-ignition caused by detonation. What do you think?

That won't bend a connecting rod... might crack pistons, but it won't bend a connecting rod. The only time a connecting rod will bend is if something stops it from going all the way up. Water, which isn't compressible, will do this.
