fuel system help
I want to run 1/2 inch fuel lines in my 85 camaro is there a way to do this with the stock tank... will a sump work? or just run a fuel cell work it is a street/strip car but mostly strip...
If you are removing the fuel tank, there should be no real problem with fitting up a larger fuel line. If it's an in-tank pump, you may have to adapt a bit, but the top insert can be modified to accomodate a larger line.

1/2" ?! why ?
thats insane and rediculous, imho
3/8" is more than plenty for anything short of maybe an aircraft or something else crazy
save your brain power and effort for some modification with actual resultan gains/improvement
you would have to replumb the fuel sender unit, by removing the 3/8" tube and replacing with a 1/2" one, and find a fuel pump with the same size fittings, and then youare still limited by the carb casting.inlet size, good luck changing that
if the engine is going ot use THAT much volume of fuel then youre not gonna be able to afford to run it anyways
be realistic
i cant believe some of the crazy ideas ppl come up with, never ceases to amuse me, humm
good luck however.,

There's nothing wrong with using 1/2" line, especially when using a mechanical pump that's trying to pull against the inertia of the fuel in the line while drag racing.

I'd rather go overkill on a fuel system than have to worry about starving my engine for fuel. But keep in mind you probably won't need anything bigger than the stock 3/8 line unless you get into the 500HP+ range. I used the stock metal 3/8 line until I got into the mid 11's...at that point I had intermittent fuel starvation problems using a carter electric pump with the stock 3/8 fuel line. So I had a sump welded on the stock tank and upgraded to an Aeromotive SS pump with a return style regulator. Fuel system has been trouble free since then and it can support a lot more power than my current setup has..so theres some room to grow before upgrading again.
Sumping the stock tank is probably the best way to go if you need a 1/2in fuel line. Its not the cheapest or easiest route to go but it works great and you will never have to worry about fuel starvation if you get a good electric pump. Let me know if you want to know any more details about my fuel system, I'll be glad to share the info.
