Mass Air Flow Input
If anyone can please direct me as to what the "Normal" Mass Air Flow sensor input is using a Scantron or similar scanner tool. My readings vary from the mid 2000's at idle and in drive it will go from 14000 all the way to 71000, (normal drive, not flooring it or anything) the car does surge, especially at stops. The reading seems to be going up and down and short of obtaining an osciloscope, can anyone give me some normal values for this sensor, any help obtained will be appreaciated.

I have no idea what those large numbers are about. What are the units of that measurement?
For my car, I'm measuring mass air flow in gms/sec. The numerical value is between 22 (?) @ idle and 254 @ 6,000 rpm WOT.

Thanks for the info, the scanner at idle reads 2750 gms/sec, I'm also going to try to hook the sensor to an oscilloscope to see if the input is stable or eratic, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, It would just be great if autozone could let you hook up a MAF and see what diff. it makes in your engine before spending the 165.00.

Its impossible that your measure actually is 2750 gms/sec. Thats equal to 4870 CFM which means you are making about 3746 Hp at idle!
Its apparent you are not measuring what you think you are measuring. Take a "fresh eyes" approach.

Correction............using the Actron CP9145 "superscanner", the MAF reading is averaging 2400 gr/s, not gms/sec (whatever either of those mean), One guy who initially scanned the car said the reading was waaay to high, and once last week it did kick a "Signal voltage high" DTC. I'll need to check with multimeter to see exactly what it is that i'm picking up. Hopefully at worst, it will be the sensor and that will be that.
