Bogging Down on WOT

Hello all,
I am new to carb's and am looking for some information on my 86 305 w/ quad jets ( stock ). From what I have read on the forums here it seems likely that its a fuel delivery issue, and my first things is going to be the fuel filter. I am wondering if someone could post a pic of where this is located or give me easy directions on finding it. I have just purchased this car and it had been sitting in a lot for awhile ( they had it tucked away in the back) and am also wondering if seafoaming it might be a good idea, I am partially looking for thoughts on how well seafoam seems to work for you guys as I have not used it ever but I have been told its the perfered method for these cars.

Welcome to the thirdgen.org family.

The fuel filter is located in the carb inlet. The fuel line goes to a nut on the carb. The fuel filter is behind that nut. You need to remove the fuel line, which requires holding the nut on the carb before loosing the b-nut on the fuel line. Then, remove the nut from the carb. The filter will be first, which has a spring behind it.

If it bogs when you first floor it, that's probably an air valve issue, such as the choke pull-off not holding the AV closed until vacuum drops like it should, or the AV spring tension is too loose for one reason or another - check out the tech articles linked from the thirdgen.org homepage for one about optimizing your computer controlled q-jet.

Thank I will be reading through those now, I picked up a fuel filter and some sea foam, should I seafome first or change the fuel filter first?
----------
also I just took it out again and realzed then in park it revs with no issues, its only when in gear, could I be looking at tranny issues?

Probably not. The AV doesn't open when you rev it in park/neutral, it needs more sustained load to start to open.

When you do Seafoam doesn't matter much. It won't be going through the fuel filter.

That was it, thank you so much, It was actually stuck enough that I had to use some carb cleaner to get it to even move. Once I reset the tension runs beautiful
