Re: help diagnose video of problem

Have you changed the fuel filter because that is the first thing I would do. process of elimination is what this calls for. also check the regulator as that could be a problem

Sounds like a fuel starvation problem.

What have you checked so far? Does it have spark? Is it getting fuel? What's the fuel pressure? What you tried starting fluid? It sounds like it wants to run but isnt getting fuel..

Re: help diagnose video of problem

Check your pickup coil inside the distributor - wires get covered in funk and break: a common problem. Also, another common problem is a bad ignition module - pretty inexpensive. Do some more troubleshooting first before throwing parts at it. Do you have spark? 12v at coil? all fuses good? Fuel pressure at spec?
Good Luck,
Corky

Re: help diagnose video of problem

If it's a TBI looking into the throttle body while cranking if it isn't spraying any fuel it might be bad injectors, or no signal pulse getting to them.

Re: help diagnose video of problem

I had a similar problem on my car 5.0 tpi and the problem was the fuel pump oil pressure switch it was messed and wasn't sensing oil pressure so it would prime the pump but when i turned it over there was ne power going to my fuel pump , not sure if ur 2.8 has 1 but that is a good place to check , it should be mounted above the oil filter hope this helps.

I've unplugged the fuel pump oil pressure switch, and it didn't keep my car from priming, or starting up and idling. If I remove the fuel pump relay the pump won't prime but, will start pumping after a longer crank time and the engine does startup and idle.

Re: help diagnose video of problem

The oil pressure switch will only keep the car from running if the fuel pump relay is also bad.
