How much is it worth?
I'm wanting to do a build on a 350. Found one local with 68,000 miles (from '98 Chevy pickup that was rear-ended). Engine includes block, heads & valve covers (no intake & TB). It's a 4-bold main of course and looks to be in good condition. What's a fair price?

If its got vortecs and doesnt need bottom end work, expect to pay close to 1000. If the bottom end needs work 350-400 probably would be max. Look at what you are getting and break ti down. Vortecs, short block, tins, etc.

It's got Vortec heads. Didn't realize that til I saw it. I offered the guy $300 and he might actually take it. Can you port those Vortec heads, or do they even need it? Maybe better left alone? And what do you mean by tins? Valve covers?

Any head will benefit from a port job. $300 would be a steal for that block! $1000 is even cheap. A buddy of mine has been searching for a shortblock ALONE for around $350, and is coming up short everywhere.
