im tryin 2 buy the right 350..help me!
ok i have a v6 in my 83 cutty and i want to swap to a
350. this guy can sell his to me for $200. what do
you guys think, should i get it or not...is it worth
it and can i just drop it in my cutty. i have a 350
tranny i can get but i need to know about this engine.
here is his add.
i have a running chevy 350 that im going to have to
part with due to finances. this is a low milage motor.
i cannot sell the intake/carb but this motor is nearly
complete! all you need is a new water pump, intake &
carb to make this baby purr down the road in your next
hot rod!
the engine was painted green/black because it was
going to be used in a hot rod that ive set aside! this
motor has been run recently and i can assure you would
fire up without a problem!! this motor runs like a
dream!!
***this motor does not have the chrome valve covers
installed that are in the picture. instead it has
stock looking black ones***
i sent him a eamil that said this.
do you have more info on engine suck as cam specs
and
year. what car did you pull it out of and what type of
carb do you have on it now. i know your not selling
the intake/carb in pic but i wanna know. im tryin to
use this for a v6 swap!!!!
this was his email reply
it came out of a 73 chevy truck, all stock
cam/internals. low miles, new head gaskets, points
distributor. it was running an aluminum edelbrock
intake and edelbrock 600cfm carb before i took them
off.
click the link to see a picture of the engine im talkin
about.

You can buy it if you want it.
Its a '73 block, so obviously there are no roller provisions.
Depends what your using the engine for, it should work
fine. Alot better than a V6 would.. What transmission do
you have? A "350 tranny" doesnt explain much. You'd
better make sure it fits your application.
The engine probally has restrictive stock heads,
but they might be aftermarket, Id ask him what
the casting number on the heads are. For $200
dollars, I wouldnt expect much..
Its sounds cool, but I hope the paint scheme
of it matches your car
I cant say too much about the cutlass, this is
a Firebird/Camaro site. But, I can say you will
need to install engine mounts for the V8 and
maybe even a transmission cross member
(depending on trans) It might not be easy.
But, im not too sure, I got a Trans AM

you're gonna want to put new heads, camshaft, and timing set on it as well as the accessories he mentioned (water pump, etc). You might as well go to a scrap yard and buy a shortblock. We have a yard here that sells shortblocks for $50 if you pull it yourself. Then go buy some iron vortec heads and a decent camshaft.

This isn't a 3rd gen. There is a slight bit of relevance to 3rd gens, but since you asked the same question on the Engine Swap forum, I'm going to close this thread.
