Camshaft numbers
I have done a search, but to no avail....Is there a site to find out how to decode the numbers on GM camshafts....I have a LT1 camshaft, but have no way of knowing what kind of car it came out of, or what year it is.....Does anyone know how to decode the numbers on the camshaft????? I did a google search, but just came up with threads looking for information....Any help would be most appreciated.....Tom

Re: Camshaft numbers
Why don't you post the numbers?
You have an LT1 camshaft, but you don't know what year or what car it's from? How do you know it's an LT1 cam?

Re: Camshaft numbers
I saw them take it out of the motor at a place called "Gold Dust Auto".....It had Aluminium heads, and an opti spark setup...the motor was blown, they had several good ones for 1100 dollars complete..I paid fifty for the cam, second one ive bought...Here are the numbers.....
GMPT.BC.15...242.
...The 1st digit could be a C, but im sure it is a G....i have typed this in, but to no avail...Im thinking it is out of an Impala type car, cuz the lobes are smaller than the other one I have which was supposed to have come out of a 96 F body...I did not see what that one came out of....I should have got the numbers off the block while I was up there........Thanks for any help....Tom
