to properly make changes to the timing, you need to do it in the chip.

you have to disconnect the wire that controls the distributor first. i don't remember what color it is, but brown comes to mind.

Re: Setting total timming on 89 TPI 350. Possible?

you can mess with base timing which adds to the total timing by turning the distributor around.

need to disconnect the EST wire before you make adjustments tho. base timing for stock cars is 6 degrees advanced. some ppl like to try 8-10 degrees advanced. i have mine set at 8 now but have tried 10 and reallly didnt feel much difference. i'd have to track test it.

Thanks alot for the replays, yes, im deffinatly going to change the base timming. it at 6 right now and i think i had it on 8 or 10 before i did the injector swap. my car just feels like it lossses all of its torq after 1st gear. i mean its still going but it dosent have the G-force ive felt from it before. any other tips will help also timming or non timming related thanks

Re: Setting total timming on 89 TPI 350. Possible?

thats how TPI cars work... basically stock cars will pull hard in first cuz the gearing is soo deep. after that it drops off and the TPI cars dont have the hp and upper rpm torque needed to pull thru those gears.
