explain this to me

I've got an engine infront of me. Look at the casting number on the top of the belhousing, left side (sitting in vehicle)> says.

GM
3982

Which doesn't come back to ANYTHING.

Anyone ever seen a 4 digit one before?

Trying to determine if it's a 350 w/out yanking the heads off.

3982, or 3892? Is there a date code?

If it's original paint, then it's a late 70s-1982 block. 3892657 was the casting number of the 67 302/327/350 blocks, though.

Re: explain this to me

Ok, The number on the front of the block is:

V0925UC

Now Assuming "UC" is the suffix code, it comes up as a 1969 307..?

The heads are 462624, which should be late 70s 305 heads.

Whatcha think?
