I hit the track for the first time this season and I ran like crap. Im going to tear it apart and redo it right and asking for some opinions. I have an 87 Z28 with a 350 bored .40, Magnum 280 cam, double hump heads, hooker shorties, a demon 625, and 3.42 posi.

I will list what I think I need, feel free to point out any stupid ideas I have.

Heads, Im not made of money so I cant drop 2500 on a set of heads right now.

Exhaust, I dont care how legal it is or how loud it is or how quite it is...Im looking for most performance I can get. As much as I would like to switch to long tubes I dont have the means to do the cutting I think I have to do to get them in.

Ignition, still running the stock stuff. I see so many MSD set ups in other cars I feel like I am the only one without one.

Gears, I want something to make up for the torque the shorties are robbing me of but something that is streetable...I wont have a trailer queen.

Im planning on a weiand 144 at the end of the year and around a 100-150 shot about 6 months after that, so the parts I install now have to be up to par for those two things.

What does that mean? How was the car itself? How about some time slip #s?
