Fuel Pump Question
Ok I think I'm in the right section for this.
I just bought an 89 RS roller project and am slowly but surely getting it ready for the motor tranny. Well in my researching to find out if everything is ready for the drivetrain I found something interesting. What I thought to be a fog light toggle switch on the dash is actually to turn the fuel pump on and off
They had a 350 and put the fuel pump in. I'm looking to drop in a 350 TBI and upgrade to TPI over the winter (unless I find a TPI setup I can Afford before)
So I guess my question is this. Do I yank the Fuel pump and completely rewire it the proper way and replace the fuel pump in there? (need new rear coils so would be a good time) or do I stay with the toggled fuel pump and call it a security upgrade lol. How exactly do I go about re-wiring the pump? Is there a specific harness that will make it easier?
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank -Mark

Re: Fuel Pump Question
Autozone has wiring diagrams on their website to show you how it is supposed to be. Basically simple system. If you do it right from the start you will have less problems when you do the swap.
Most likely they used the original wiring to the tank and rewired around the relay. I wouldn't expect it to be too difficult to repair. Possible a couple hours under the hood, might not have to touch the tank till you have to swap the pump for the TPI
Probably cause some people aren't smart enough to spend a few bucks and do it right, they would rather spend several hours of time hacking up a perfectly good system to save $30.
