I have a 87 GTA - stock 350, stage II prom, adjustable fuel presure. What should be the best fuel presure, also, I was told to change the fuel pump to a corvette pump. Wouldn't that be the same? any after market pumps suggested? thanks

Re: fuel pump

Baseline or starting point on fuel pressure is usually right around 43 psi with the vacuum line disconnected. You can try adjusting it up or down a couple of psi at a time, and just leave it wherever your cars seems to run the best. Whoever mentioned a "corvette" pump is probably referring to a Walbro pump. They are the best in-tank pumps to run. If your car is running good right now, I wouldn't be in a hurry to replace the pump though. As long as your existing pump is doing the job right now, just wait til it dies and you're in need of a replacement before putting another one in. Be careful where you buy a Walbro pump from too. Ebay is flooded with imitation Walbro pumps that are actually cheap Chinese junk. They really went out of their way to make them look almost identical to the real ones. If you decide to get a Walbro, do a web search for racetronix.com. They sell genuine ones. The Walbro 190 would be adequate for your car, or if you want to go all out, you can get the 255 for a few dollars more.
