lb9 305 questions?????
not sure where the best place to post this but anyways i have a 91 305 lb9..well i wanna ask about the redline on the car...i dont usually stomp on it too much but the other day i wanted to see what she can do from a dead stop and i slammed the pedal right to the floor and she reved waaayyy past redline and stayed there for too long then it switched gears and took off but i do know its bad for the motor to do that but dont know why it sits so long in that redline just seems like its barely accelerating????

Where the tires spinning a lot when it was revving up to the redline not going anywhere?

Or your converter might be slipping a lot or something. That's a really strange question to ask...

Re: lb9 305 questions?????
ive never seen a car sit so long past the redline like this....no i wasnt spinnin or anythin i started from a dead stop and slammed on the gas...the tach went way past the 7 grand i think it is and stayed there for like 5 er 6 seconds then it seemed to catch gear and go smooth from there...the past way to explain it i think is from 0-35mph the needle on the tach sits past 7 grand for a while and wont go anywhere then all the sudden its like a boom and it flies after that...???

Re: lb9 305 questions?????
Sounds like a slipping transmission.
I think you should re-post this question in the transmission forum. It has nothing to do with your motor.

Re: lb9 305 questions?????
i doubt the tach is wrong if he is flooring it and the rpms go up and then the car shifts and takes off.
it is most definately a tranny problem
