power steering

My power stearing unit is leaking and i have to keep filling it with fluid every week or so.
Where can i get a replacement pump and any idea how much it is?
Is this hard to replace?
can anyone give me instructions on how to replace it or any tips?

How sure are you that it's the pump leaking and not a hose?

A pump is about $50-60. Not extremely difficult to replace, but could be frustrating to someone not experienced at mechanic-ing.

Hoses are about $15 each.

A shop manual is a good investment.

Re: power steering

Honestly I can't tell where it's coming from for sure ,it's not real obvious so i figured it's the pump.
Do they still sell them at parts stores?

Re: power steering

A can of engine degreaser and $1.50 at the quarter car wash is AHELLUVALOT cheaper than a pump.

Clean it up, see where it's actually leaking from, before wasting money on a few rounds of "maybe it's this, maybe it's that".

Most common leaks are a pinhole in the pressure hose, or a deteriorated return hose at the ends.

Mine (a couple of weeks ago) was the pressure switch. But, not all 3rd gens had a pressure switch.
