N00B Question
What is the difference between a short block and a long block? also my uncle says he has a "4 bolt" 350 he said he would give me........what is the diff between a 4 bolt and a regular 350?

A short block is just the block with crank, rods, pistons and cam I think.
A long block is a short block, but it also has the heads on it.
350's came with either 2 bolts holding the main caps on (that's the "saddle" that holds the crank in place), or 2 bolts on the front and back, and 4 bolts for the middle 3. A 4 bolt main usually came in trucks and whatnot, the theory was that it made the engine stronger. For trucks lugging heavy loads yea, but for us it's a very small detail.
