Overheating at Idle?

I have a 89 iroc-z with a 350 and it keeps overheating at idle. It'll run around town fine, and stopping at traffic lights isn't a problem, but if I'm sitting at idle for more than 5 minutes or so it steadily keeps heating up. Both the fans are still working, what else could it be?

How hot does it get? The fans don't come on until around 235 degrees +, depending upon switch and/or programing.

Re: Overheating at Idle?

The Heavy Duty fan switch can be changed for a lower one of GM
It will come ON at 95° C = 203° F the part number is GM # 3053190

The EPROM can be changed easily if you have access to the programing tools.
That will reduce the temp of the Main FAN.
