Car makes popping sound out of pass side exhaust

I know its coming from the passenger side bank ( True Dual FTW ) anyways what are some possiblilities.

It only happens at idle really, its not bad and the idle quality is fine. The motor is fresh with less than 500 mi.

I had to bite the bullet and use my old accel shorty plugs from my 305 due to time retrains, i cleaned em up on the wire wheel tho.

I know its a miss but its intermitant and i dont want to start stabbing wires to find exactly which cylinder.

The set up is in my sig.

BTW while im here can someone reccomend some decent plugs to fit behind my headers. 2210 Hooker SuperComps with straight plugs.

My personal preference at work on tune ups is NGK or i would use Autolite, Delco etc.... but dont mention Champion ( they are only for lawn mowers and mopars) or bosch( euro crap)

Oh and i do have a small exhaust leak on the pass side IIRC so maybe that is introducing a bit of oxygen into the system and causing it to pop??

I could list a host of possibilities, but they all would require some work by your to narrow down the field. As you are apparently unwilling to do this labor I would thusly suggest you bring it into your nearest qualified shop and pay them to do their job.

And who pray tell makes (or rather who do the farm some of it out to) those delcos you love but hate on the champ and bosch? Do you like Honeywell by chance? Unison? Why hate on the bosch and champs?

i work at a shop and i just dont want to strat shorting my wires to spot the miss... i can do the labor just fine.. .btw i work at a shop. 9/10 cars that have bosch plugs run like ***, same with champs. That is aside from euro's and mopars.

Plug of choice at our shop is NGK, almost everything runs great on those.
Then there's autolite for most domestics. Some of our customers are "factory only" parts ppl so they bring delco plugs for the GMs and they work fine too.

I just wanted a suggestion on a shorty plug.

The car just makes a put put sound every few seconds not all the time though.... I have to pull my headers to wrap them so ill just buy new plugs and see if that helps

Re: Car makes popping sound out of pass side exhaust

well seeing that this turned up no good info im bumping it... i still have the same problem... i seem to have reduced the tendency to miss by changing the vac advance from ported vacuum to manifold vacuum.

The miss is still there in that one bank... im pull the plugs when i have time.

It's starting to bother me though ... as of late the car seems to have a slight chugging motion while accelerating lightly and if i get on it in the same gear it goes all the way to backfiring out of the exhaust... im hoping this is an ign. miss but what else should i look into??

if it is mech. would a compression test help at all? also remember the motor is fairly fresh ~500 or less miles

Does it backfire at idle? Also what carb/intake do you have?

nope... if anything at idle its just a little put put out of the left side... feels like a burst of air a bit more than the rest of the time.
