Need help with with fuel injectors...

Since I'm near completion of porting my plenum and Edelbrock TPI base to go along with my AS&M runners, I figured it's about time to replace the stock fuel injectors on my L98 as well since the whole top end will be new anyways.
I'm well aware that most members here recommend AGAINST using Accel injectors as they're prone to failure. I'm also aware that Ford's SVO injectors come highly recommended so I looked into that....

The problem is, I've been having a heck of a time finding replacement injectors matching the original 22lb/hour rating that these L98's originally came with. I see numerous manufacturer's offer 19, 21 and even 23lb injectors along with the more common 24's but nothing at 22.

Why is that?

I don't want to go with 24's since they'll require reprogramming the computer and anything less than 22's and the car won't get enough fuel so I'm in a bit of a situation right now...
There's a place on line which I'm sure some of you are familiar with, "Five0motorsport.com" which I was looking at a few days back and surprisingly, they seem to be the only place I've found, which actually carry 22lb injectors. They're the Ford/Bosch style which are flow-matched and come with a 3 year/unlimited mile warranty. Asking price is $299 for a complete set of 8.

I thought my problem was solved when (quite by accident actually) I noticed that they also offered a smaller, 19lb/hour set which had the SAME part number as the 22's. How can that be?

Both 19 and 22lb injectors carry the same 0280150556-D5B part no and I'm worried that if I place an order for the 22's, they'll send me the 19's by accident since they're all the same part no.

I emailed them about it but am still waiting their response...

Who would have thought buying a set of replacement injectors would be so difficult?
If anybody knows of any other place that offers 22lb injectors or perhaps has personal experience with Fiveomotorsports, has these same injectors and can explain to me why both sets of injectors share the same part no, let me know.

Any advice and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Again, I'm looking for a set of 22# injects for my L98. My only other option is a set of 23# Ford injectors one of our sponsors carry but I'm worried that even though they're not much bigger than 22's, they too will require re-programming to get the car running properly. (Anybody have experience using 23# injectors with the factory tune?)

Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to the page at Fiveomotorsports showing both the 19 and 22# "yellow-top" injectors for our cars - http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injec...sTPI.asp#caddy

Re: Need help with with fuel injectors...

why not get the 24#'s and throw in a cam and port your heads if ur worried. since ur gona have the entire top of the motor off anyways i would do the entire top end. since the 24#'s will support more power that u will need for future upgrades. just my .02 your 88 has gotta have sum miles on it i kno cuz my 87 formula 350 with the L98 has 130,000 on the ticker and it would use a fresh headgasket/head rebuild with fresh springs etc. i would look into sum cheap iron heads since rebuilding yours would cost almost as much as a set of vortecs but u'll get 40hp right outa the box. you could get stock replacements from bosh or w/e and just bump the fuel pressure bc running 24#'s will give u alil too much fuel but i really dont think you would have a prob with your mods. most bump the 22#'s to 50psi which is about 24# anyways. i heard about accels injectors and how bad they where not to mention insane $$ and venoms are about as good as a mechanical fuel pump. so i too searched for SVO's and i got a brand new set of 30# SVO's for 219$!!!!! cant beat that price since ford rates them at 230$ a set. and summit sells them for 310$ 320$ shipped. but mines goin on a 500+hp HSR 383

i would go wit the 24#'s and i dont think youll need a tune that bad bc your cars new intake is gona be flowing a good bit more than stock. still it would benefit from a tune prob. if anything u could prob get away with 44psi or around stock pressure cuz your motors gona need the extra fuel with all that new air u got comin in.

Re: Need help with with fuel injectors...

i beleive the part numbers would be the same do to the fact that certain manufacturers rate thier flows different... so technically one guy will call it a 22 while another calls it a 19... just to be different

Re: Need help with with fuel injectors...

As customblack alluded to above, with an adjustable fpr, you can make 19 lb'rs or 24 lb'rs behave like the 22's.

Assuming your stock fp is 42 psi, run the 24lb injectors at 35 psi or the 19's at 54 psi to equal the flow of the 22's. Personally, Id go with the 24's to leave your options for the future open.

I'm running 30lb Accel injectors with absolutely no mods to computer or engine. Engine is L98 TPI/Auto. And it runs like a bat outta hell. So yes, you can use other injectors.
