okay, where to start!! i have gotten my hands on my fathers 1984 Z28 Camaro. He is all kinds of messed up in the head. he left his Camaro out when the distributor got stolen and it has been just sitting for about 5 years. so i told him i would take it and get it fixed up. the first thing i found out is rats have been in the motor and left dropping all in the motor. i am also clueless about cars pretty much. so i want to kno wat to do about the rats and wat to do about the droppings!! Plz and Thank you!

Just clean the motor up, and look for any hoses or wires they might have chewed. Then, replace the wires and hoses that are damaged.
thank you. also, about how much does a battery and distributor cost?

Battery: About $50-$80 (or more), depending upon how good of one you get.
Distributor: Go to www.partsamerica.com, enter your vehicle information. You need the type without vacuum or mechanical advance mechanism (unless this is a Canadian-delivered vehicle), not the "street/strip" ones. Since you don't have a core, expect about $105-$120 for a remanufactured unit. On top of that, you will need the rotor, distributor cap, and coil, again not the "fancy" stuff, but another $80 worth. Make sure you get the little ground strap/tab thingy for the coil.

wow. didn't kno i needed all that. thx. wat would a whole new motor cost? it has a 327 in it rite now, i think from a corvette. i'd like an identical one so if i blow one engine, i can have another one to spare.

Now all the gear he told you for a stock 85 goes out the window. 1st thing you need to do is post what your working with atleast on your profile sheet. Some pictures if you can.

Possibly, but not necessarily. The 327 could have been put under stock induction and ignition.
I wouldn't bother with a "spare" engine, and certainly wouldn't try to duplicate the 327. There's a lot better stuff out there now.
