initial timing
i just explained my problem(fouling plugs every 300 miles or so but car starts and runs great)to the engine builder, barry grant, msd and comp cam.this is getting frustrating.i didnt time the engine so i dont know where i am at.the builder tells me no more than 34 total degrees for one.comp cam tells me to take a manifold vacuum reading because my xe268 is suppose to get 15.5 with a 350 at 800rpms.barry grant says a speed demon comes with a power valve 6.5 so i guess when i take a manifold vacuum reading i am hoping i get around 13.the engine builder also told me to disconnect the vacuum advance.where to start?barry grant says 18 degrees on initial timing and the builder says 13 to 16.msd says try the lightest springs so i advance sooner.i hope some of you can help me out because the car idles great and is strong as ---- and i dont want to screw something up.one of my main questions is how do you get your initial timing.i have a msd ready to run pro billet and they have different bushings for different degrees
