Re: rear end RPO codes..?

9 bolt has 9 bolts on the cover. 10 bolt has 10 bolts.

google for RPO codes. There are a lot of web sites that provide lists of RPO codes.

Re: rear end RPO codes..?

No RPO code will say if it's a 9 or 10 bolt but there is a code telling you what gear ratio is in the diff. The 9 bolt only has 3 ratios offered from the factory and none of the 9 bolt ratios are the same as a 10 bolt.

If you have an RPO code for 2.77, 3.45 or 3.27 then there's a good chance it's a 9 bolt. Any other ratio and it's a 10 bolt.

Why didn't you just do the simplest method and ask the seller to look under the car before you bought it?

i should have asked before i bought it...i know....

but...according to the build sheet, it has GH3 277 ratio axle, and G80 positive traction, so what your saying is if it has the 2.77 then its a 9 bolt right?...

sorry bout being such a nooooooob

Re: rear end RPO codes..?

2.77 would indicate a 9 bolt with a 2 series carrier. If you manage to find 3.27 or 3.45 gears, you will need a 3 series carrier. Good luck finding any replacement gears unless you know someone in Australia.
