What is this thing?

The guy calls it a chip, but it doesn't look like any chip I've seen, looks like a transistor or something. Where would something like that even go?

Re: What is this thing?

Where did you see a pic of the actual chip amongst all that flash and bling?

There is no chip or programmer that will work on all years from 1991-2002. In fact, 1993 was the last year GM used a chip or prom in f-bodies. In 1994 they went to a flash prom computer called a PCM, where the chip is embedded on the circuitry and its changed thru the ALDL connector.

Those guys must be really good, if they can get 90 more horsepower out of a V8 engine with just a chip. The most I have gotten is 15 horsepower, and that was me sitting at the dyno with a scan tool watching the computer control the engine, so I know what to change.

As we say on the DIY PROM board, nobody is good enough to tune your car across the internet. The only chip worth buying is the one you do sitting in front of the car watching the data, so you know what to change.

Re: What is this thing?

That ad flashes scam to me, but it says it connects to the intake, so it presumably just alters temp., pressure, or flow signal(s). What would it do to best trick the ECM to give the engine a little more ummph..?

Re: What is this thing?

I should have said sounds like a transistor or something instead of looks like, since it mounts to the intake sensor somehow.

Re: What is this thing?

Looks to me like a guy who ran out of luck selling electric turbo chargers and now had to find something else to sell to keep from getting a real job.
