aluminum rods
anybody tried running aluminum rods in their street motor? i've heard of a few guys doing it and gettn decent milage outta them. Our blower motors use aluminum rods but they're only good for 20 runs tops. according to my calculations that not many miles haha! of course were pushin 2800-3000 hp with em. Aspirated big block chevy from experience is around 130-150 passes. totally different than street driving tho

Re: aluminum rods
I tried aluminum rods once. Not worth the extra money. You need special rod bearings that have a dowel hole in them. You need to make sure the engine is warmed up before working it. They need to be taken out and resized or replaced regularly.
It's too easy to have an engine fail because of aluminum rods. A good set of H or I beam steel rods are a better investment.
