TPI Shootout
TPI Shootout
So, I had originally planned on a TBI to carb swap, but due to good fortune (or what could be a disaster disguised in good fortune) I have come across a TPI setup. I'm planning on making 350 hp with a 350, which apparently is quite difficult to do with a TPI.
With fully ported L98's; an LT4 cam (218/224), Headers, 3" Y-pipe and 3" Cat-back exhaust, A/C Delete with Stock TPI and 24 lb/hr injectors, others on this site seem to think I'll net around 290 flywheel hp. This seems low, comparibly to a 383 making 410 hp with a stock TPI and larger cam (230-ish intake, slighly larger exhaust). Granted, I cannot run that large of a cam and still keep the car streetable, nor is a 383 equivalent to a 350.
So, therein lay the questions, what do I need to do to make this kind of power with a TPI, how large of a cam can I run before I get vacuum issues, and would it be better (more cost efficient/easier) to just stick with the Carbureted/TBI setup?
I've heard some guys making that kind of power with a TBI....what should I do? HELP!
Thanks for any and all advice, and please don't stone me for being incompetent...lol
