Just A quick question

When i bought my camaro, the guy said it had vortec heads, what are vortec heads, and how are they any different from a normal head, is there a way of telling if they really are vortec heads without taking them off?

Vortec is a marketing name Chevrolet uses for their truck engines.

The '96-'99 trucks had heads that were never used for passenger cars. The easiest way to identify them is by the intake manifold mount bolts - if there are only two bolts on each end of each side, and they go straight down (instead of being perpendicular to the intake gasket), then they are Vortec heads.

The best way to identify them is by the casting number, located under the valve cover. Easier to do than pulling the heads off.

I'd bet dollars to donuts they're plain TBI truck heads. But, take a look at them and tell us what you see - or post photos.
