What is this sensor?

The sensor near the throat of the plastic air intake, next to where the rubber hose is that goes to the throttle body. (This is not my engine, I have a TPI from a different camaro). I have the same air filter box with the same sensor installed but not pluggeg up to anything. It looks to me like a MAT sensor but I have a MAT that is screwed into the bottom of the plenum. Is this air filter box not meant for a TPI motor? Is it too restrictive for a 350 ci motor? Can I move the plug from under the plenum and plug it into the other MAT for a cooler air reading? Thanks for any help....

Attached photo is of TBI setup. Sensor that you are describing is possibly IAT - inlet air temperature. IAT has similar properties to CTS, but a faster response time.
