Bad Miss - not typical tuneup stuff
Basically I have a bad miss in the motor at all rpm's. I have already replaced the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor button with no luck. So next I though maybe gas, So I filled the rest of the tank with some good gas and as well as some additives and next replaced the injectors. Still have the problem
Some more info: When I pulled the plugs, they were all black but not soaked, wet. The motor smokes a little but nothing outrageous, wouldn't cause a scene in normal traffic. The car has always run rich since I have had it.
This leaves me left with 3 things: bad valves, washed the rings, jumped timing. The third does not seem probable to me as the timing chain was replaced about 4 years ago. As for the other 2, does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?

First is what did you do, if anything, right before the miss started? A compression test should confirm or deny either one of: bad rings, bad valve. I have never seen a confirmed case of jumped timing in a SBC.

Now it smokes all the time. but it is not bad at all. Nothing like a blown headgasket would or anything. Before it was only when you nailed the throttle. never on startup so i don't think it would be the valve seals

Same problem i've been having... i went through and replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor, coil, then i replaced oil filter, oil and fuel filter with it all. Still had the problem so then replaced my TPS because i was getting a code for that, started putting in mid grade and even premium when it was around 3.10 for premium but it didn't help so i went back to mid grade. Then now i was told to try a new fuel filter... Was in the process of doing that no more then 20 mins ago and split the line... So. My guess would be change your fuel filter but be extremely careful when doing it. Not only could you split the line but also don't do the stupid stuff like smoke well trying to fix it...
... Hot drop lights don't use those for that key word HOT. If you try that and it works let me know. Then ill have narrowed my problem down. But unfortunately for me... I wont know to quickly.

Do a compression test. Don't forget to take out all the spark plugs, MAKE SURE the battery is in THE SAME STATE OF CHARGE (full) all the way through teh test (not, spins great at first, but barely even moves on the last cyl, you want the same speed of cranking on every cyl), block the throttle all the way open, unplug the thick wire from the distributor, and unplug the fuel pump relay.
