under the hood clean-up

hey guys, i bought a 92 camaro rs last week and i would like to tear out the stock engine and drivetrain, which is the 3.1 set-up, and be able to take it to the dragstrip and do a little racing rather than watching. could u give me a little insight as to how much of this clutter under the hood i can get rid of and still have a functional car, meaning the headlights, brake lights, etc still work.

The ECM harness comes from the passenger side bulkhead, and the light and sensor harness comes from the drivers side connector, right under the relays. The two intermingle in the same wiring loom but are mostly seperate. You can cut the loom away and seperate them.

I'm a little confused what are you trying to accomplish? Are you doing and engine and trans swap and wondering what you need to keep?

Re: under the hood clean-up

I took it as he was going to put a computer less carburated monster in there and wanted to eliminate all the unneccesary engine controls...

Re: under the hood clean-up

yeah thats along the lines I was thinking, but it's not very clear at all what hes going for in his post, the way it reads is that he wants to remove the drivetrain, other unnessicary things, then take it to the track and push his way to victory, which I'm assuming isn't the case..
