what are these?
anyone know what these are & how they work?
the 1st picture is of a ~6 inch black plastic ball under the metal supporting the charcoal canister. I has a 1.5 foot vacuum line that runs to the other thing (cruise control?) in the second picture. The vacuum line just crumbled and gotta go get some more.

1st pic is a vacumm pot, it stores vacumm for when a large amount is called for...eg: hold cruise steady under heavy engine loads

Thanks guys -- well between the vacuum pot and the cruise control, replaced, no I'm not lying, 74 inches of 5/32 vacuum line... over 6 foot of 1986 original GM vacuum line. And there's still more to replace coming off the cruise control; that's another long length of some fairly large vacuum line. ... running pretty smooth now
