can any one help me or have any idea? my car backfires and will not pick up speed right any ideas has any body had the same prob and how can i fix it?

 

Is the SES light coming on?

 

I have seen this happen for different reasons. 1. timing is out of whack 2. fuel pump is weak 3 cat converter is on its last leg.

you may also want to pull the codes as five7kid said to confirm.

 

thanx guys..............will look into that, i have a update on the proble, i messed with the timeing but did not have a light to use, the car does not back fire now runs a lil better, but still with probs, now when i accelerat it has real bad lag out of first but when it goes into second gear it does alot better pickup almost normal, but while im accelerating i noticed the ses light comes on but as soon as i let up off the gas it goes off checked the codes and it is not showing any bad codes any idea should i have it put on a machen and have it checked that way or can the cats cause this thanx

one other thing i noticed mine has the oh so warnderfull tbi, how hard would it be to chance to carb and a price range would be good im on a low buget, but the main concern is i notice im leakeing fuel right where the injectors are i mean the fuel pressure reaglator is setting it is leaking where it goes into the throtle body thanx

 

I'd say fix the throttle body leak.

What codes did it have?

 

will do that.....................as far as codes it says everything is ok...but like i said the ses light only comes on when i accelrat then when i let up it goes off and the ses light wont come on untile i accelrat again ive only onece got code 33

 

Code 33 is not "everything ok". Sounds like you've got a MAP sensor problem to fix.

A MAP sensor fault would cause all of the things you're talking about.
