Re: Why wont these heads work?
don't they just have to be sbc heads? i dont' see why it should call for vortec or lsx heads i guess. just some cast iron or aluminum heads with a centerbolt pattern should work but someone should definatily double check

Intake Runner Volume (cc): 170cc
What size engine are you planning on building? Intake runners a little on the small side.... but, should produce very good low end torque, which the mini-ram sorta compromises.
What are you trying to build? A daily driver, drag car, road racer?? AutoX?? Some more info here would be really good.

Re: Why wont these heads work?
Agreed.... not a real good choice.
They're S/R Torquers; stock replacement, basically, with minor improvements. Small runners, designed to work well on a stock short block with a stock cam and stock or near-stock (think, Performer) intake. Not the right thing for a high-flowing, high-power setup like the MiniRam.
Besides that, they're 76cc chambers. With typical non-racing pistons (TRW/SpeedPro forged, virtually all of the hypereutectics, virtually all cast, etc.) in a stock block with the .045" deck clearance that results, they'll give about 8.9:1 CR on a 383, and about 8.3:1 on a 350.
Not good.
Not all aftermarket heads are created equal.
For a good MiniRam combo, look at heads in the range of 180-200cc, and chambers NO LARGER THAN 64cc. With that intake, you want LOTS of flow, and enough cam to use it; but not go so far overboard that it's hard to tune.
Dart 200cc Iron Eagles or TF 190/195cc or AFR 195s, with the upgraded valve spring package, and about a high 220°s to low 230°s @ .050" roller cam, is where you would want to be.

Re: Why wont these heads work?
Okay heres my whole plan. I brought an idea before but this is what i am doing. I am gonna buy a set of good heads that will take about a 8psi boost from a supercharger. In about half a year i will have the car's drivetrain ready for the s/c and have the money for it. So in the mean time i need to get heads for it. I had already picked a good set of heads, but I thought i would put too much stress on the stock bottom end with them.
Thos are the heads I was gonna go with when I wasnt thinking of a s/c. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...RT%2D10321112P
Here is the cam http://store.summitracing.com/partde...2D08%2D423%2D8
I am just a little unsure of what to do now that i am bringin in a s/c into play. Reason for s/c The sound of it and the power boost
