CAN ANYONE HELP

just changed my blown 700r-4 for a new one and fired it up Friday on the lift but when i put it in drive the wheels moved like it was suppose to but it just boggs down and cuts off. when i gave it some gas the tires spun faster and the car stayed on for a few seconds longer but still bogged down and shut off. my friend an ASE certified master mechanic said since the battery has been out for more than a month the car has to "learn how to idle again" and said he would bring his programmer with a idle trainer Wednesday. Could this be what it is? any other suggestions .............Thanks

Re: CAN ANYONE HELP

My bird sat for 3 years straight once with no battery, it never needed to "learn how to idle again". But then again I am not mechanic what do I know.

Yeah my Camaro spent 4 years in a pasture with the battery still hooked up...put in a new battery and some gas and cranked right up and drove fine.

Re: CAN ANYONE HELP

Did you get it full of fluid (Torque Converter first then install tranny, fill tranny, run tranny, top it off)

Sounds like your torque converter may be holding... do you have trouble with braking?

Its not idle lol... I just ran my car (stored without battery) since november on sunday.
----------
Did you change the torque converter out for a new one?

Re: CAN ANYONE HELP

There are plenty of cars that have to "relearn the idle" It's just that most of them are FORDS! You shouldn't really have to worry about that on your car.
