Im leaking coolant by the water pump. It doesnt appear to be coming from teh lower hose but right above it or so. I squeezed the hose and no coolant came out. I think my waterpump pump is gone. I did see that the car would run a little tad hotter lately but i thought it was nothing. the water pump also looks extremely old as if it has never been changed. Should i just do it? I am pretty sure its a fairly quick swap out anyways.

 

theres a hole in the middle of the pump on the bottom, when the seal gets worn it will let water out. time for a new waterpump,later jimmy

 

or the gaskets where it attaches to the motor. but most likely what he said.

 

Ya im changine it out now. Just curious as to if there are any tips on removing the hose when its hard to get off. I dont wanna rip it.

 

Take the clamp completely off. Grab the hose and rock it back and forth or try to twist it. If those attempts don't work, try pushing it off with a pry bar or crow bar. DO NOT use the pulley to pry against as it will bend easily. You can also use scrap 2x4 for leverage. If this doesn't work, wedge a dull flat blade (long is best) screwdriver between the pump and the hose to release the hose. I would not do this with a pump you intend to reuse since it can scratch the pump and cause leaks.
